Chasing Paper Dreams
Ever wonder what kind of career you will have in the future? Just yesterday i was having a conversation with my mother. She was telling how F**Ked up her colleagues were.
She was telling me about how she has to do reservation for other people when its not her job to do so.
The thing she said that sticked in my mind was... "boy... do you want to keep your job?"
Well, honestly... if my colleague were to tell me to do reservation for a restaurant, and i know its not my duty. I would simply tell you to Fuck Off!
Than again... coming back to the issue of wanting to keep your job. I feel that the thing that makes Singaporeans really jittery is the "job security" issue.
My point is if you do your job better than anyone else, no one would dare to screw around with you asking you to make reservations.
On the contrary you would be the one telling people what to do. Morale of the story is to work harder, better, smarter than everyone else.
I was thinking the just a couple of days back about people and their degrees.
I know these 2 men... Both came from the same secondary school, went to the same JC. BUT!!! they got different degrees. The surprising thing is that the man who got a Degree in Business only earned a salary of 5000 odd.
The other one who didn't get a Degree in Business but a Degree in Social Work.
This guy earns about 10k<
Why is this so?
Isn't it unfair? Isn't the guy who has a Degree in Business earning more?
Well, i feel that its not about the Degrees you get or what Paper Qualifications you have.
Its about been street smart and playing the game well. Learning to play that cards right.
Its not about what how smart you are... but how STREET smart you can be.
Well, thats according to my theory =)
